The literal translation of the title of this movie is: the floating bottle.

This movie made in the early era of Chinese reform introduced a fresh look on friendship. Chinese audience were accustomed to the typical political propaganda in which the friendship was purely based on the love of motherland, love of socialism, love of the communist party and the dedication, etc. This movie has none of these obvious nonsense, it is just a simple depiction of ordinary friendship forged first during a boat trip, and then the trust and understanding in the interpersonal relationship. Such simple thing was deprived from Chinese due to political turmoil and the release of this movie signaled the return of normality was finally in sight.
