Like a breath of fresh air after being nearly suffocated by NON-ORIGINAL, re-hashed, uninspired films with "zombie" in the title--Cannibal Maniac pops you right in the mouth, shouting, "Look AT THIS!", as if they knew we were all dozing-off, awaiting SOMEONE, SOMETHING to save the horror/splatter genre from becoming non-existent. Again, I'd like to use the word "fresh", 'cause this is the Webster's expanded version here: Fresh ideas, fresh camera and production, fresh flesh, fresh BLOOD (as in the cast, AND the stuff that's SUPPOSED to be contained in your veins-which doesn't seem to work too well in this film, 'cause the plasma-be-a-pumpin'-outta everything in Cannibal Maniac!)--and ultimately fresh is the short 23-minute run time. This is an impatient new generation we're dealing with now, and they want whatever "it" is now. Well, kiddies: Put down the X-Box controller, and invest 23-minutes of your time to witness the coolest action/horror/splatter/martial-arts (!)film to come down the river of blood-which was dangerously close to becoming a dry gulch!-in well over a decade. Lou Garcia and Annette Martinez are going to strike gold in the movie world. Without any doubt, this is the beginning of something more from them! And probably, that something will be undead, and very moist, and scary, but....oh well, I can't wait.
