I just saw this at the Savannah Film Festival and was very impressed. Of all the shorts that played here this year, LA Actors may have been my favorite.
The movie stars Tony Shaloub who is always wonderful, and his role being either paranoid, or perceptive (depending on how you interpret the film) was no exception.
The film could be about any number of things- the struggles of an out of young actor, the sheer phony persona of LA, or the loss of genuineness when you become an actor and stop being yourself. It could also be about the guises we all put up. It's probably about all of the above.
Ric Halpem and Justin Wells were there afterward for a Q&A session. They were sports considering most of the questions were naturally directed towards the feature that had followed their short. But this was certainly one of the best shorts I've seen in a while.
