Sister vs. Sister

What might have become merely another "by the numbers" incest movie emerges instead as a rather powerful, subtle exploration of human relationships, going beyond the formula.

Story centers on Jane Wilde (who voiceovers her p-o-v), dealing with her mean sister Charlotte Cross, adjusting to her stepmom Serene Siren and in love with beautiful butch girlfriend Vanna Bardot. Four sex scenes cover the couplings of a solid cast, giving serious, sincere performances.

In that regard it is surprising to see Serene Siren as a redhead, and quite subdued and empathetic, showing none of the flamboyance she's known for. It's a tricky role, as the script's 800-pound gorilla, namely her husband who's the kids' father, stands between her and her affection for the youngsters. He never appears on screen, and Siren's evolutionary allegiance makes for the story's most interesting aspect.

All four players have fine moments, and perform enthusiastically in the XXX segments.
