I watched this shortly after I had watched another short film from Milton, although not deliberately. The previous short had been interesting but unsuccessful in bringing out its point and this film is pretty much the same albeit in a different way. The plot sees a young man lying in pain on the road in an anonymous industrial estate. Two joggers find him and while the man goes to look for help, the woman finds herself pushed out of her comfort zone by the man's suffering and her inability to do anything about it.
This final line there is about the long and short of it because as much as the film has an interesting feel, the whole story is in the woman and the line that her compassion will not cross. She wants to help but she doesn't want to deal with her man's potential death or his suffering. It is a convincing character but the point the film is making with it isn't clear. A drunk shows up, people turn to God when it is too late, a lot is made of the absence of others and the loss of place and these things give the film an interesting feel but not one that really impacts in a successful way. It feels in some ways like it is working to keep the point from the viewer – and that feeling is one I didn't care for.
Milton directs the style well and the performance from Fitzgerald is really good but outside of this the film leaves too much unsaid and loses its point somewhere along the way. It is interesting and gives you stuff to work with in your brain, but the ending is unsatisfying and feels weird tonally.
