Stepanovna and her friend are two older women. They make money by selling mushrooms at the bazaar. Women know very good places - they are full of big and beautiful mushrooms. They are carried there by a relative of a police officer by car. Because those places are closed to ordinary citizens, and there is no transportation. This is the territory of the Chornobyl NPP.
