Needless to say that I hadn't heard about the 2022 horror comedy titled "Zombae", from writer and director Greg Zekowski, as I sat down to watch it. And of course I had to watch it, as I have always loved everything with zombies. And yeah, while the majority of zombie films available are questionable, if not downright bad, then I have to admit that I wasn't harboring much of any expectations to "Zombae", given the title of the movie.
Writer and director Greg Zekowski didn't exactly manage to churn out something wholesome with "Zombae", and the movie fell short of being entertaining or overly enjoyable. I am sure that someone out there will enjoy this movie, but I didn't get a kick out of it. The storyline simply was too simplistic and felt like it was concocted on the go.
I was only familiar with actor Bill Oberst Jr. In this movie, and he was but a mere support actor here. A shame that the actors and actresses didn't have more of a properly constructed script and storyline to work with here.
The movie's cover/poster was somewhat of a milestone away from what actually was seen in the movie, so don't get suckered in.
As for the special effects in "Zombae", well they were special. Let's just call them that.
My rating of "Zombae" lands on a generous three out of ten stars. This is not a movie that I would recommend for fans of the zombie genre.
