This is laugh out loud entertainment from the start that is an awkward sort of relatable blended family experience. It's not a true reflection of life but think "Napoleon Dynamite" meets "Clifford" meets "Meet The Fockers".
What seems like a nonstop chuckle fest at a very silly style of humor that I don't want to label as "sophomoric", because I believe it to be more more clever than what some may classify that genre, turns into a sincere take on what it means to raise a family and co-parenting.
With a great cast, and a style that may place this film in a unique category of it's own, Step & Step Dad, won me over in ever area. It provides enough laughs that kept me entertained for the comedy relief while drawing me into a more intimate tone at just the right moment. That was what makes it so special. If the laughter would've gone too far it would have lost its effectiveness.
This is a timely release from the norm of everything else I've seen these days. To that I say, "BRAVO"!
