American Christians have literally run every level of every municipality, county, state and federal government since the ratification of the Constitution in 1789, enjoying tax exempt status the whole time. And yet at every opportunity, they become delicate snowflakes, warning that there is a just-around-the-corner tipping point wherein their rights will be stripped away and their voices silenced. It's the original American version of the Big Lie, with the agenda of manufacturing outrage while seeking an insatiable quest for money, indoctrination of their faith-based lifestyle on believers and non-believers alike, and the ostracizing of anyone who dares believe in a different explanation of Life than the one they have cobbled together from biased translations of a Stone Age text. Joe Kennedy is a man who willfully and repeatedly violated his employer's rules and policies. Such an employee, especially after being given ample opportunity to amend his behavior, deserves to be fired. It's impossible to critique this movie on its merits without that basic starting point. All that said, Average Joe's screenplay attempts to turn an insubordinate public employee into a modern day Joan of Arc. Laughable performances by its cast, forced moments of pathos, and a clear agenda from the producers make this slightly more enjoyable than reading the full legal briefs that wasted the time and money of the American taxpayers by this frivolous lawsuit and dangerous precedent it sets. Keep your church in your church, unless you want to let a lacrosse team practice in your sacristy.
