Nova & Alice

Ok, so as a Swede I am well aware of the reputation Swedish (particularly summer) movies have in Sweden. Formulaic, cheesy and with a style that seems like every director took the same university class. They're not the best things you'll ever watch but few are as bad as this. I found it completely unbelievable. From the shaky, out of tune singing to the whiplash relationship. It could've been 30 minutes shorter and it would still not be a good movie but it would be less torturous. I guess maybe it would be a fun summer movie it wasn't for the amount of arguing and unnecessary drama. I wish it would've focused more on the tender moments and conversations they have as this feels sorely missed when you consider the movie seriously wants you to believe this is a real relationship that is going to last forever. That's not the feeling I got and I'm a lesbian and we are known for our drama (the L word...) , this felt like two bored horny people who found each other but it could've been someone else and it wouldn't have mattered.

Like the title of the review says, it's a beautiful movie with some amazing acting and music.

The main two characters are very convincing with falling head over heals in love with each other, just like it sometimes happens in every day life, for those who are lucky enough to find that very special someone. Sure it's not perfect and hearts will be broken but ultimately that's what the story is about - that we don't really choose who we fall in love with or when or how. Real love beats any planning or logic.

The music in the movie is some top notch pop and I enjoyed every single song. Swedes really know how to make a good tune!

Anyway I enjoyed this movie very much and can recommend it to anyone who wishes to see a good feel-good flick.

I can strongly recommend this film if you like happy romantic humor. The characters are very original and the main actors are very skilled and work together extremely well. If one considers that either Hedda Stiernstedt nor Josefin Asplund are professional singers, it is amazing what good voices they have. The songs were written especially for this movie and for the actors and are very catchy. The movie is underestimated and I watched it twice now and I discover more and more funny moments. The most romantic scene for me is when the character Alice unloads her car in pouring rain. No spoiler really.

Watch this movie if you want to get in a good mood and isn't it wonderful with a happy movie with gay elements. And a very good one.

Viktor is a manager for music artists. He comes up with a certain idea. He really likes it and decides to present it for Nova and Alice, two of his music artists. He thinks that they should do a joint tour.

The two young women are different, both personally and musically. Nova enjoys to party and is single. Her music is new, very popular and yes, it gets a lot of attention.

Alice has a man and they have two young sons. She has the work experience, but her career goes a bit slow right now. Nova and Alice decide, after initial reluctance, to embark on the joint tour.

I think that "Nova & Alice" is a strong movie with great music and good acting. I watched this movie at my hometown cinema. I don´t regret watching this. Inspiration is, in my opinion, very important. I can see that Nova and Alice are trying to find inspiration. Can you even write music without inspiration? I really don´t believe that.

"Nova & Alice" has, in my totally honest opinion, very few flaws. I missed a little clarity in some scenes. And yes, sometimes the story felt a bit too rushed. But I really like this movie. More people should give it a chance.
