When I was a teenager, my mom had a whole collection of Mir Jam's (pronounce it as Meer Yam) books, who was a big deal back then for her romantic novels. Fast forward 50 years, and she's back in my life as a screenplay writer-actually, Milena Depolo adapted Mir Jam's story into a screenplay! I can't complain about the story itself; it's got that perfect vibe for housewives. But I wish I could say the same about the acting. Milosh Bikovic was just okay, and Brankica Sebastijanovic's performance was pretty terrible!
The story kicks off with Radmilo, a successful young lawyer who's been head over heels for a stunning woman from Belgrade, Ljiljana, for ages. Even though he's the most sought-after bachelor in his small town, he turns down all the marriage proposals that come his way, holding out for Ljiljana. Meanwhile, she's dreaming of marrying Momchilo, who turns out to be a real jerk when it matters most, even mocking her. So, out of spite, she decides to marry Radmilo, and they head to his town, where everyone's giving them the side-eye.
That same night, everything takes a turn...
Director Ivan Stefanovic was another weak point in this, let's be honest, TV project. The quality was never going to match up to cinema standards! Some of his directing choices were pretty questionable, and he played it way too safe throughout the film, leading to a dull experience for the audience. It felt like a half-baked project!
