Sex on the Saddle

"Sex on the Saddle" reminded me of the hundreds of lookalike Playboy, Penthouse and Bert Rhine soft-core VHS tapes I used to receive as review copies in the '80s, all ephemeral and likely salted away in some avid collector's cache somewhere by now. (Check your attic for Michael Bay's excellent Kerri Kendall Playboy Video -it's valuable.) This one was resuscitated (for no good reason) on DVD paired with an early Jenna Jameson appearance for High Society magazine: "Sex on the Set".

Rather dull offering, way too soft to keep one interested nowadays (back in the '80s I and the other porn fanatics were more tolerant), it consists of 9 vignettes of beauties stripping and posing for the camera outdoors at the Dry Gulch Ranch. It's atmospheric but has about as much meat on its bones as an Hawaiian Tropic Beauty Contest video.

Fun consists of picking out stars who amounted to something (and then some), notably Dyanna Lauren, wetting down her perfect body for a voyeur's delight, and Asia Carrera emerging from a tee pee to pretend to be an unclad Indian maiden. Asia must have not received the "be tasteful, please" memo, as this was shot in 1994 at the beginning of her Bud Lee-sponsored career, after he divorced his authentically Native American wife Hyapatia.

Julia Parton receives top billing, but no matter, there are plenty of babes to go around. It's just the lack of content in these "magazine pages come to life" videos that bothers me, and bothered me back in the day when they were competing in the VHS marketplace with Jane Fonda and Jayne Kennedy exercise videos, which in their own way were a heck of a lot sexier sans nudity.
