Alien Stage

In today's time everything seems the same. Which was why I was pleasantly surprised when I watched Alien Stage. The thing that separates Alien Stage from other series/musicals Is that the episodes are released as music videos. They rarely have the characters speak rather than sing but It doesn't disturb or distract us from the song. You can finish the entire show In less than 30 minutes but they do a good job of making you feel attached to the characters, even one most of them dont have actual lines which I think Is Incredible. Theres at least one death In every episode since the whole show Is a competition where two people sing against each other and the loser dies and the winner goes onto the next round. There are tons of Interesting characters and each relationship Is well written. Which makes the deaths even more hard hitting, not just for the viewers but for the characters In the show. Especially since both the viewer and the characters know that theres a good chance that they'll die too. Which leads to some major yet valid crashouts lol.

I originally watched a bit of the series in 2022 when there were only 3 episodes however after that i kinda dropped out n lost interest n eventually forgot about it until like one or two years later when it suddenly exploded in popularity probably bcause 2 the kiss between 2 of characters, the boost of popularity reminded me of it so i decided to check it again after some time passed and honestly its very much worth checking out, there is a limited amount of screentime and dialouge for every character however the series is still able to keep you interested in these characters even with its limits, love is a pretty huge part of the series n is integeral to like all of its songs 2 and i honestly think its what keeps it very notable anyways, the show does a good job of introducing n developing these dynamics shown to us n ends up keeping us invested even with limited scenes of them and are the biggest part of the show, the deaths as well are executed really well honestly and later on in the series become more n more impactful esp because it kinda becomes unpredictable who survives n who doesnt, the characters r really well written distinct n colourful n r fun to watch even if they dont have much dialouge lol, the series visuals n use of metaphors adds alot to the general plot n characters n deserves an mention here n it might as well b what made a ton of ppl get in2 it anyways, some thoughts i do have is that the ending was a bit of a hard watch n i felt that the characters def needed 2 b fleshed out more n i have like way 2 many questions about the world building n characters that annoy me a bit bc they wont probably b answered anytime soon.

It isn't for everyone. Due to the faced paced nature of the series however this is also one of its greatest strengths. Visual storytelling is starting to die in modern media and this was a breath of fresh air. All 6 main characters are written incredibly. I highly recommend going in as blind as possible, as I did and my mind was blown. The portrayal of love broke me. If you enjoy tragic and doomed ships, this is for you. If you enjoy commentary on the music and entertainment industry, we got that too. With a beautiful yet disturbing art style at times it'll surely break you. It's by far my favourite indie animated series of all time.

What puts it at a 9 instead of a 10 is the final episode, I didn't agree with everything it did but it was still well done!
