With great expectations, I watched this movie. But it failed to create an effect of a psychological thriller. I feel, this is only a psychological film, showing the blind faith and trying to balance the opinion about blind faith without taking any sides. The story is not logical and has many flaws in it. In marathi there is not a single word as JaraNN, but in the context of witchcraft, the word JaraN-MaraN is used.
I went into Jaaran expecting a typical horror movie, but what I got was a disturbing mix of psychological tension and rural superstition that stayed with me long after the credits rolled.
The film dives deep into the unsettling world of schizophrenia and paranoia - not in a purely clinical way, but through the lens of a small village where folklore and black magic still hold power. Amruta Subhash delivers a performance that's both terrifying and heart-wrenching, making you question whether the real horror lies in supernatural forces or in the fragile human mind.
The pacing is deliberate, sometimes slow in the first half, but it pays off in the finale with a surprising and thought-provoking twist. The cinematography captures the eerie, claustrophobic mood perfectly, and the sound design adds an extra layer of unease.
This isn't a jump-scare fest - it's a film that creeps under your skin.

Must watch movie!!!!! What a phenomenal performances by Amruta Subhash and Anita Date.very well directed by Hrishikesh Gupte and great acting by supporting actors as well. The end was very thrilling and unexpected. Seems Amruta literally lived that character. Mind-blowing!!!!!!! Superb!!!!!!!!! Loved it.
Marathi films don't get the props they deserve, especially the horror genre. If Amruta Subhash is in the film, you give it a serious shot. Jarann, a psychological horror, is definitely worth a that shot. Slow, but that's kinda expected of this genre.
The first 5-10 mins make you make a prediction, next 85% of the film makes you think you've predicted the plot only to find out that you might have been right but with a twist that you didn't see coming. Amruta was good but it felt like the script gave her one scene for each emotion and it felt very....template-y. I don't think she was given the opportunity to do what she's done in the past.
All that said, the film is definitely still worth a worth, especially to support Marathi cinema.

Jarann is a breathe of fresh air amidst the chaos of action-packed movies and cliche dramas. While I've always believed that Marathi films don't get the appreciation and recognition they deserve, movies like these solidify the fact that the Marathi Film Industry can actually do better thrillers than Bollywood. This movie is the perfect example of how even the overused genre of horror movies (here, psychological thriller) can be done well.
The overall story, although seems inspired at places, is nevertheless fantastic. The background music perfectly adds on to the tense atmosphere which continues throughout the film. And of course, the top notch acting! Amruta Subash perfectly captures the niches of someone suffering from psychological problems and mark my words, you'll be TERRIFIED of her. I wish Anita Date-Kelkar had some more screen time, but whatever limited scenes she has done, she has made her impact. The plot is very logical and finding loopholes is almost impossible. Although the movie contains quite a few jumpscares, I appreciated the scenes of slow-burn tension more, which, thankfully, are abundant.
Overall, Jarann is definitely a worthwhile watch for it's gripping story and fantastic performances.
