Rabhasa has one of the silliest, like seriously silly, yet best storylines I've come across in a while. The overarching story is actually really good, Two cousins promised to one another in marriage but separated at a young age trying to find each other. The issue is neither knows what the other looks like in the present, combined with a few more twists makes things truly chaotic. Which leads to the first of many misunderstandings in this film, this is where the film loses 2 stars for me. There is misunderstanding after misunderstanding and after a bit it just gets a bit ridiculous and tiring. That being said Karthik manipulating the situation is really funny, though a bit tiring after a bit. I wish he would just tell his cousin that he is the one who saved her friend, as she is in love with another guy who she believes is the one who saved her friend.
Anyway long story short I am happy that in the end Karthik and his cousin Indu end up together. It took a while and had a absolute ton of misunderstandings and plot twists along the way, but in the end it all worked out for the best. The truth was finally set free by none other then Indu's own father, who didn't want her marry Karthik. Yet rather then everything coming crashing down on Karthik, it all ends up working out just perfectly, as Indu now knows that the boy she loved for saving her friend is none other then her cousin Karthik whom she has loved and wanted to marry all her life. Indu's father couldn't have helped Karthik's case out more if he wanted. In the end Karthik gets to marry Indu and all his former enemies now consider him an honorary son, his parents are there to see their son and niece tie the knot which they'd promised Indu's mother before she died, and everyone lives happily ever after.
In terms of acting what can I say that everyone doesn't already know. NTR Jr. Who plays Karthik is absolutely fantastic as usual, His fight scenes are as over the top as they always are but by god do we like to see it happen, plus the man can dance! Samantha Ruth Prabhu who plays Indu is absolutely gorgeous and steals every scene she is in with her to die for looks and beauty. She portrays her character wonderfully and brings Indu to life on screen as a strong young woman.
The songs and dances are all really enjoyable as well, so nothing negative to say there. Especially with NTR Jr. And Samantha wowing the audience with their amazing dance moves and on-screen chemistry.
All in all Rabhasa is a film with plot twists around every corner, misunderstandings around every other corner and finally the love of Indu and Karthik to tie it all together in the end. A well deserved 8/10 from me! Though boy did I get some grey hairs wondering what the heck would end up happening at some points in the film. Luckily I wasn't disappointed.
