Playing Julius Streicher, Hitler's specialist in publishing hate literature, in the mini-series "Nuremberg" was something of an irony for Stone, whose parents survived a death camp near the Russian/Romanian border. Stone had difficulty getting through the showing of the real life camp footage at one point in the film.
"I was on the witness stand at the time, and I was weeping. One of the
actors came over and put his hand round me to comfort me. He was very
kind. As it turned out, as a teenager, he had been in the Hitler Youth
Movement." - Describing the difficulty of watching death camp footage
that was shown at the actual Nuremberg trials.
