His father's side of the family worked in the movie industry back during the "Golden Age" of cinema. His grandfather and great uncle were both set builders for Universal Pictures; his great grandfather was an assistant editor, and his great grand uncle an art director. His dad's cousins both worked for Disney's special effects department in the 60's, working on such pictures as Mary Poppins and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, both which won Oscars in this category.
