- QuizThough widely known as Pauline Byrne, her correct last name was "Byrns". Won a singing contest in Seattle, Washington at the age of 17. She was the featured vocalist with Merle Carlson's orchestra, a west coast outfit, from 1935-37, afterwards joining a singing group called Six Hits And A Miss which performed on radio's "The Pepsodent Show" (also known as "The Bob Hope Show") from 1938-42. Perhaps best known for the three songs she recorded with Artie Shaw and his Orchestra in 1940. In 1946, she became the lead singer of The Starlighters vocal group, retiring in 1950.
