Donnie retired after serving 22 years in the US Army, of which 13 years were in Special Operations. He has been married to his high school sweetheart for 20 years, and they have four children (three teenagers and a preschooler). He is a skilled and dedicated martial artist, and a 6-0 amateur MMA fighter.
