Recensione in evidenza
Right, well as I sat down in 2021 to watch the 2014 Thai comedy "Namo OK" for the first time, I was under the impression that I was in for a comedy. Especially since the movie had the words "ridiculously fun!" brandished on the front of the cover.
"Ridiculously fun!", yeah, that might be overexaggerating it quite a bit. This movie wasn't even remotely fun. I didn't even laugh a single time. In all fairness, it should be said that I only managed to sit through half of the movie, then I just gave up on it out of sheer and utter boredom. So if the funny parts were left in the second part of the movie that I skipped on, I don't know. Nor do I really care, because this movie failed to entertain me on every level.
Director Thitipong Chaisati just didn't manage to come up with a movie that provided me with any entertainment. Perhaps you need to be Thai and well-traversed in the Thai culture and be familiar with the Buddhist traditions and world of monks, I don't know. I do know, however, that the movie was a massive swing and a miss in terms of entertaining me.
The storyline told in "Namo OK" was insanely slow paced and even more so devoid of anything fun or interesting. So yeah, it was a massive struggle to sit through half of the movie. So giving up on it was not something that required much convicing.
I am sure that the acting in the movie was adequate, but I wasn't really paying much attention, because the storyline was just a heap of rubbish.
I am rating "Namo OK" a generous two out of ten stars, based solely on the production value of the movie.
