There were reports initially that Shraddha Kapoor had been roped in to play the female lead, opposite Shahid Kapoor but she was never casted for the role, they were just rumours. In August 2019, it was confirmed by the producers that South Indian star, Rashmika Mandanna would make her Hindi debut in the film. On 14th October 2019, all the cast and crew members were confirmed after an announcement. But Rashmika Mandanna backed out of the film, before the 1st day of shoot because of unknown reasons and a few days later, Mrunal Thakur was brought in for the same role.
