This is a good strong suspense where you are wondering why Kelly, the wacko woman who has just killed the neighbor who lives across from pregnant Emily, kills the neighbor. It is clear that she has her sights set on Emily. They are both pregnant, and Emily instantly takes to Kelly's hospitality. What isn't clear is why Kelly is so focused on Emily. That mystery is what makes this story line particularly engaging.
Emily and her husband have already endured the heartbreak of a full month term stillborn pregnancy, so even though she is nearing the end of her final trimester, Emily continues to hold doubts and fears about the viability of this new baby. Kelly seamlessly steps in to offer consolation. But Emily's close friend Susan wonders at the swift intimate friendship. Too bad no one has a clue what Kelly is really up to.
The title doesn't make sense as Emily's baby is never 'gone' or taken, so a more appropriate title would have made better sense.
Once we get to the reveal, the answers are shocking. The motive is well explained. The one problem I had, though, was how Kelly hurried us through her reasons, spelling them out in a way that felt too on the nose. What would have been better would be a playing out of some scenes to show us, but overall, an enjoyable thrill ride.
