Recensione in evidenza
Raja the Great (2017): Ravi Teja returning to silver screen after a gap of two years and playing the part of a blind person has created enough hype around "Raja The Great". Added to this, the film is directed by Anil Ravipudi who has given two hits earlier and is produced by Dil Raju. Expectedly "Raja The Great" has hit the screens amidst great buzz.So how is the movie? Plot: Raja (Ravi Teja) is a visually challenged man whose mother (a police constable played by Radhika) aims to make him a cop. Lucky (Mehreen Pirzada) loses her cop father (Prakash Raj) and is the target of the local gangster Devaraju (Vivan Bhatena). Raja gets an opportunity to be an undercover agent to save Lucky. Rest of the story is all about how Raja inspires Lucky and realises dream of his mother in the process.
My Review: During the promos before the film starts, there would be a statutory warning "Please Switch off the Mobiles". For these kind of movies another "Please Switch off your Brains" needed to be added.
This is the third film by director Anil Ravipudi, whose earlier two films were complete masala potboilers. This film also is a commercial entertainer with all the cinematic ingredients. Despite the protagonist being blind, he dances, fights and spouts massy dialogues. The hero has to bash up all goons, dress well, walk firmly, and indulge in all kinds of illogical acts even though he is born blind Raja the Great is an ordinary and predictable story, complete with action, dialogues and songs. There are several illogical and cinematic scenes, such as the blind protagonist traveling 25 km by bus, and on top of a train, to catch the villains. The other illogical thing is that the senior police officer agrees to take a visually-impaired person into his team when he offers him sweets! Despite of all this illogical mess, the comedy is good in parts. There are few scenes which are hilarious and saving grace of the movie.Rest of them are loud and cheesy.
When it comes to performances, it is Ravi Teja all the way. He is energetic and lively and gives a believable performance as a visually-impaired person. You can see the typical Ravi Teja kind of performance in his body language and the entertaining massy dialogues. Radhika does a decent job as his mother.Ravi Teja's son master Mahadhan appears in the childhood portions of Ravi Teja. He is promising. The so-called "Uu Uu...it is laughing time" mannerism is also irritating.
Music is so bad and BGM is mashup of all the theme musics of several famous films.
So,Raja the Great is a typical commercial film with same old screenplay even if the protagonist is blind.A One Time Watch .
My Rating 5.75/10
