Tulitikkuja lainaamassa (1938) is the first movie version of the novel written by Algot Untola (Maiju Lassila) in 1910.It's directed by Yrjö Norta and T.J. Särkkä.Aku Korhonen and Unto Laakso are terrific in the lead playing Antti Ihalainen and Jussi Vatanen.Ester Toivonen is wonderful as Maija-Liisa Ihalainen.And so is Aino Haverinen as her mother Anna-Liisa.Siiri Angerkoski is superb as Kaisa Makkonen.Joel Rinne is great as Ville Kettunen.Kaarlo Kartio is very funny as Tahvo Kenonen.Kaarlo Angerkoski is marvelous as Police Chief.I recently found this movie on VHS from the library.Some time ago I saw the version from 1980.Both of these movies are funny.In this movie the team work between Aku and Unto is something unique.Starting from the first moment they meet.We see them in many hilarious situations, like catching a pig.And when they're visiting Kaisa Makkonen.Or the havoc they cause after tasting a little booze.And there's something endearing to watch Aku Korhonen sleeping on the bench in the beginning of the movie.Watch this movie and enjoy the work of these comedic geniuses.
