To enter a competition,a family decides to film the life in their small village of Brittany in super-8 ;to write that the movie which includes the "amateur " work is as amateurish and as poor as the documentary itself is to state the obvious .
The "real" film is a dreadful potpourri of incompetent playing, directing and singing:for there's a lot of music which includes an awful duet ,an acceptable rendition of Theodore Botrel's "La Pimpolaise " and an absolutely horrible musical in miniature telling the romance between louis The twelfth and Anne De Bretagne ;the folk music with bagpipes and the venerable Goadec sisters -whose appearance is botched- are the only moments which have something to do with Breton culture.
But there's worse : long repetitive close-ups on a woman's buttocks are obnoxious voyeurism . This would be slapstick comedy is actually a display of blue jokes, male chauvinism and vulgarities.
A pox on it!
