¨Dos Y Dos Cinco¨ or ¨Fin De Un Verano¨ is an ode to childhood , a nostalgic trip to the past in which we become children an hour and a half , where everything to be discovered , in which the games were serious things . It stars Juanjo (Lolo Garcia), an eight-year-old kid lives locked at a countryside mansion along with Julia(Silvia Pinal) . His estranged father attempts to apart him of the people and society . Meantime , Juanjo suffers loneliness and he is extremely sad because of his grandfather has disappeared and he misses him . During summer Juanjo meets the old sailor named Tomas (Antonio Ferrandis in ¨Chanquete's Verano Azul¨ role-alike) who is making a boat and both of whom befriend and talk about brooding issues . After that , a band of kids led by Pedro (Jorge Sanz) play themselves in the countryside . The boys are frequently battling with their wooden sticks , killing bugs or building traps in the woods . Later on , at the mansion arrives his parents (Jose Luis De Villalonga and Helga Line) and things go wrong . Then , there are developed troublesome relationships between parents and cropping up dark secrets.
This is a marvelous ode to childhood plenty of innocence , friendship , cooperation , curiosity and comradeship between an old man/Antonio Ferrandis and an innocent little boy/Lolo Garcia . Director Lluís Josep Comerón shows these important and universal values through child's mind . It is a notorious picture of educational content , including an enjoyable and attractive message . Wonderful relationship between Lolo Garcia and Antonio Ferrandis , both of them develop a real admiration and an agreeable friendship . Main cast is pretty well . And support cast is frankly extraordinary , plenty of familiar faces , such as : José Luis De Villalonga , Helga Liné , Jorge Sanz , Lola Forner , Miguel Ayones , Francisco Casares , Adriana Ozores , Assumpta Serna , among others . The picture has a great ability in dealing with childhood , with interesting and thought-provoking messages that are a clear example of an allegory of notorious values such as friendship , honor , and collaboration . The film is a song and an allegory to infancy , where curiosity and innocence are the most characteristic attributes having children . Amusing and fun scenes in which kiddies gangs of young Spanish boys enjoin in constantly battles , antics , frolics and amusement . We do see the world we know each and every one of us, but from his innocent look , with much more easygoing . It's a kid's movie but its strength lies in its universal character , not a story just for kids , it's for everyone .
This entertaining though slow film displays a colorful as well as evocative cinematography by Manuel Rojas . In addition , a sensitive and atmospheric musical score by Carmelo Bernaola . The motion picture was regularly directed by Jose Luis Comeron , it is a regular portrait appointed to children as well as adults . Comeron is a veteran filmmaker and writer who collaborates with Jorge Illa in various scripts . Being usual screenwriter for director Julio Coll (Distrito Quinto , Carcel De Cristal , Traje De Oro) and for Antonio Isasi Isasmendi (Diego Corrientes , Sentencia Contra Mujer , Scaramouche mask , Estambul 65 , Vega 500 Millones , Verano Para Matar). Comeron's film debut was ¨Esquadrilla Al Vuelo¨ (1963) . He directed thrillers as ¨Larga Noche De Julio¨, ¨Puzzle¨ and comedies as ¨Un Genio En Apuros¨ with the Farceur comedian Eugenio and ¨Familia Decente¨ . And children movies as ¨Rebelión De Los Pajaros¨ starred by kiddie musical band Regaliz and this ¨Dos Y Dos Cinco¨. Rating : 4.5/10 , mediocre .
