Recensione in evidenza
I don't get why the reviews are supposed to be English. The movie is downright German and no one except a German is likely to see it.
The movie is about a feminist film-student being undecided what kind of person she is looking for, whether for a conservative or a intellectual. But the plot is not really important. I watched it last night and previous to this movie a programme was broadcast presenting German directors and their new films. Important thing: one of them had to go to India to get his movie produced for Germany is not fond of the melodrama, and as the bottom line the voice-over provided stated a melodramatic movie has to be set at a different place and time. The movie is not a melodrama but its close, its predictable but on purpose. We have transferred scenes from Casablanca and Gone with the Wind fitting in the concept of the movie. Right from the beginning we know who is destined for each other, maybe its essential that you like romantic movies but i don't think so. Knowing roughly the course of the story from the beginning it becomes reminiscent of Brechts Episches Theater. We watch a feminist enjoying emancipated sex in one scene almost prostituting herself in another in order to get the intellectual lecturer attached to her. Along with this we have great dialogues with great characters ranging from simple stereotypes to circular causation alcoholics, great scenes.
So why do i rate this movie high? I don't know. I liked it. I am 17 years old the movie is set in the time i was born. It affected me.
If you are not into meta-levels and want a single protagonist merely to identify with go and watch some blockbusters. You got to be open minded to watch an older movie and if you can't then don't. I don't mean to be offensive so please don't be offended.
