Very clever self-deprecating humor is the hallmark of this feature, holding up well 20 years later. Several opening credits citing the contributions of "Asia and Bud Carrera" signal the tongue-in-cheek approach.
Main purpose of this vehicle is ostensibly to billboard star Asia's first anal sex scene on screen. That marketing ploy is still a ridiculous big deal in porn, but instead of superstars so cited, every new young starlet gets the idiotic "First IR", "First DP", "First Anal", etc. bullet message on those DVD box covers trending today.
The premise is that Asia is supposedly married to co-star Jonathan Morgan rather than her real-life spouse and director Bud Lee. Morgan objects to his wife having anal sex on screen and unselfishly portrays himself in a bad light for the purpose of the comedy. Bud, on the other hand, is the director anxious to cash in on his star's fame.
Ultimately, after a practice session with Jonathan reaming her, and constituting her actual rear-end screen debut, Asia insists on hiring Tom Byron to do the deed before the cameras of the film within a film, and he obliges, with a dildo added for technically her first d.p.
Morgan's subsequent philandering with stunning Anna Malle (a Bud Lee regular) precedes his guilt trip and the mock-drama gets sorted out. Along the way is excellent lesbian sex action involving genre queen Felecia, Bridget Monroe and Caressa Savage.
The inside jokes are readily accessible, and sometimes the dialog hits the mark in an off-the-wall way, as in Asia's tender claim "I love you with my heart, not my asshole" to Morgan. Since Morgan is still a very busy director now married to retired soft-core superstar Nikki Fritz, I pondered whether he might be able to put Nikki to work in a similar, albeit soft-core, variation on this reflexive look at filmmaking. I'm not the only fan who misses seeing Nikki in those late night Cinemax movies.
