Captain Bill

It is difficult to realise watching this film that Leslie Fuller was a great public favourite in the pre war era and that any appearance by him would draw large crowds.He even had his own production company.Yet the war would prove a watershed for many film stars of the thirties and Fillers career was no exception.His film career effectively finished by 1942.Mind you watching this film from 1935 one can only wonder how it ever got started.It is painfully unfunny.Given that this was originally 82 minutes long it was clearly designed as a co feature at least,and possibly even top of the bill.One can only explain this by saying that it is clear how much tastes have change since the film was made.
