Awesome movie! An old teammate had this movie. I watched it three times in the span of 24 hours, and can't wait for my copy to come in the mail. This will take you back to your wrestling days and make you wish you could still get on the mat!
The movie is a biography that follows the Lehigh wrestler John Trenge through his senior season. Through a series of flashbacks and interviews with his family and coach, his wrestling past is presented at the same time as his senior season progresses. We see the struggles, the trials, and all the tribulations that all of us as wrestlers have gone through. It's a great film because we see the sport through the vision of a great competitor. It's not the Hollywood version of wrestling that Vision Quest was. As much as we all thought Shute was the man, and Louden Swain was the impossible dork who beat him, Veritas is the real deal. No fake headlocks that Louden would never have been able to pull off. Trenge throws guys for real!
So I highly recommend you spend the money on this film. It's a bit expensive. $30 plus shipping, but you'll watch it over and over again. I bought it for my new son, because at the rate of 2 wrestling movies every 25 years (Vision Quest and now Veritas) this is what he'll have throughout his career! It will be great motivation and a teaching tool I plan to use!
