The movie starts with Ana's father taking her mother and her at some isolated building near the seashore. We immediately start to ask us questions such as: what is this place? Why are they here? And without reveling too much directly, the story becomes to be clear, at the same time it becomes surreal. We then start a journey for the main character to help his mother, but she's not alone.
I praised the rich characters around out protagonist and how they are all so different, but they work together to help Ana in her quest. It is a beautiful metaphor about diversity and teamwork, surrounded with goofy and touching moments. It is also a story about face our inner demons with help of our loved ones.
It could be a little scary for younger children, but I think it is a great opportunity for parents to face and understand these deeper emotions using an animated movie, similar to an old fairy tale.
Adults, just be ready to leave your prejudices and fears away.
