Right, well initially I didn't know what I was in for here, but I have to say that I found the movie's synopsis to actually be interesting enough, so I sat down to watch what director Hank Orion had to offer with the 2021 movie "The Ritual".
And that turned out to be absolutely nothing but rubbish. Wow, talk about a bad movie. The storyline was about as pointless and laughable as could be, and I found zero enjoyment or appeal in the storyline here. And it didn't help much that the characters and dialogue were just equally pointless.
Then there were the acting performances which were amateurish at best. Sure, it didn't help much to sell the movie, but the performers in the movie virtually had nothing to work with here.
I wasn't familiar with a single actor or actress on the cast list here, not that I can say that came as a surprise given the production value and level of acting skills involved.
The camera work in "The Ritual" was just downright bad. It felt like something that was shot on a DV camera - or even a phone camera - and very much like something anyone owning a camera could have filmed and shot. Yeah, there wasn't a proper movie atmosphere to the way that the movie was shot. So if you opt to sit down and watch "The Ritual", take into consideration that you are in for something that feels more like a home movie than a proper and actual movie.
This movie was a swing and a miss, and it is not one that I would recommend you waste your time, money or effort on. I found zero entertainment here.
My rating of "The Ritual" lands on a one out of ten stars.
