Recensione in evidenza
Sadly, the only actor I recognized in here was George Lindsey, Goober from Andy Griffith. That will give you an idea of why this only has NINE votes as of today, no entries on the Message Boards, and it came out in 1983 ! Our hero, Jeff (played by Fred McCarren) needs to raise money to pay off his jail bond money supplied by his friend Russ (Andre DeShields). Russ works for "American Snitch", a weekly scandal sheet and you can see where this is going.... Some cussing in here, along with a weird, freaky, script. Ya got Marilyn Monroe, Elvis, Hitler, Nixon, farmers, and people seeing Jesus. Then there's Sonny Barton ( Don Ferguson) suing the paper, for printing stuff about him. Not the strongest script, not the best acting, but it's not all bad. Moves pretty slow, but interesting to point out that now stars COULD sue the tabloids. The viewer should keep in mind that Carol Burnett had JUST won a lawsuit against the National Enquirer for stories about her and her family, so this could be an account highlighting events in the news. Since then, numerous stars have sued tabloid newspapers... some have won, some have lost.
Directed by Richard Harris, who won an Oscar for editing the 1997 version of Titanic. Who knew? He edited lots of stuff, but Snitch is the only thing Harris directed. He also worked on Fletch and Fletch Lives. Not bad... but it ain't no Shakespeare.
