Diana DeVoe's "Bedside Manners" introduced me to a talented actress of the past decade Aryan Astan. She made several Penthouse videos, so I'm looking forward to watching further appearances by her.
She's a newlywed, whose hubby Tony Rosano (quite young here), who becomes paralyzed after being hit by a car (action staged off-screen).
Film has a surprisingly serious tone as it explores Aryan's need to satisfy her sexual tension, now that her love cannot service her. She sticks by her man, and he laudably attempts cunnilingus as a logical outlet while watching porn (staring the lovely Harmony) on TV, yet neither of them dig this particular solution.
He next turns to swingers, inviting a couple over for dinner to stage a sort of foursome. This has mixed results but seems to be a step in the right direction.
An interracial interlude is interjected when a doctor played by Tyler Knight humps sexy Jordan Kingsley in an office at the hospital. Tony's physician Charles Dera is none too pleased when he catches them in the act.
Finale has Astyn seeking advice from Doc Dera, and it's apparent that they have become close in the months since hubby's accident. His sympathetic talk is pure pop psychology, but since Dera is also hurting over the death of his wife, he and Aryan inevitably hook up. Director DeVoe utilizes an effective feminist twist to tie up the story with Aryan writing Dear John letters to both Tony and Charles, packing her bags and setting off on a new life alone, relying on herself.
Sex scenes with a varied cast are quite well-done and script & acting lift this minor feature above the norm.
