The subject material for this pilot episode of "The Force" was the tragic murder of S/Cst. Gordon KOWALCYZK. The story features a Royal Canadian Mounted Police Severe Service Mustang (SSP) previously stationed with the Innisfail Freeway Patrol. The Mustang, bought at auction and privately owned at time of filming, had been restored to in-service condition and provided for use during filming. The RCMP had commenced use of these police package Mustangs in 1986 purchasing 8 in total. The Mustang featured represents a 1987 version of the Ford Mustang SSP with black ten hole aluminum wheels (phone dials) and a 5.0 high output engine. The SSP Mustangs featured other factory modifications that could be ordered through Dealer Service Orders (DSO) and were intended for agency fleet use only.
