Kind hearted Manikyam is a potter in a village living with his drunkyard father Kota and his mute sister. His main aim in life is to get her married. He is always helpful and chirpy .Devayani and Sanghavi are his silent lovers. he keeps dissuading them . Each match making fails to take off for a dfiferent reason - insufficient money , ill intentions , robbery etc., He promises to marry Devayani after singing a few duets with her once after his sister is married. in the end the sister stops dreaming about her marriage when she realises the ordeals of her brother . she quitely sleeps in a kiln . Manikyam lights the fire thinking unknowingly i and she burns to death . the whole movie is about problems of a middle class with a handicapped daugther . In the end , he marries a deformed girl himself to show to society that they too are humans . Devayani and Sanghavi move on quitely .A fine poignant movie .
