Tyler: Yes, it's a small illustrator, but that's the best I can do right now. I don't know, they want me to meet some new artist, Jenny Newlove. Yeah, I see her stuff, it's good. She's kind a trying to do art with a capital a. I know! I know. Hey, look, after my last book I'm kinda out of options. Right. Look, I got to go. I love you. Bye. Hi.
Jenny: Hi.
Tyler: I'm here for a meeting with Clara Morgan.
Jenny: What's your name?
Tyler: Tyler Reeves. Hey, do me a little favor and don't mention anything I said about the artist.
Jenny: So, you're not fan of Jenny Newlove?
Tyler: No, her, her talents are off the charts. Yeah, she think she's drawing for Guggenheim not for kids.
Jenny: Aren't you guy that wrote book for kids searching for the world's smelliest smells?
Tyler: That's me.
Jenny: Well, nice. Well, I guess kids like silly and shallow.
Tyler: No, they like to have fun, and my books make them laugh.
Jenny: I don't know, I think children fiction should have deeper meaning. You know, a valuable lesson.
Tyler: Hey, maybe you should write a book with Jenny Newlove.
Clara: Tyler!
Tyler: Clara!
Clara: Hi.
Tyler: Hi.
Clara: This is Jenny Newlove, the fabolous illustrator I want you to meet.
Tyler: I thought that was the...
Jenny: Yeah, a woman behind a desk must be a receptionist. Right. This shouldn't take long.
Clara: Come on.
Tyler: Great.
I have only one serious issue with the cast and acting and it's related to Alex Trumble. He grined/smiled after most sentences. I mean it's comedy movie first, but it was out of place most of time, because not every scene was funny. I don't blame him - it's director fault. Then I checked director and his past work is average at best.
As I wrote, this movie is comedy first mixed with romance second, I would even say that is somehow the critic of modern idea of marriage wrapped in romantic comedy. It's done pretty well until Act III which was a bit of let down, but the ending was actually good and suprising. I really don't like how Jenny's parents were treated at the end. After some thinking they are clearly crammed in the end by probably somebody in production because not once in the whole movie Jenny mentioned her parents. They just happened out of blue and didn't say a word because saying words would cost money, and so they weren't even listed in the credits. It was so out of place and ruined otherwise this solid movie. Edit - my bad, I rewatched movie, and Jenny actually mentioned her parents at the beginning of Act II in the best possible light. This makes it even worse.
And obligatory, don't watch trailer if you plan to watch the movie as like every other ROE trailer it shows everything!
