T Blockers

Another one of those 2024 Shudder releases that IMDb has released in 2023, but the important thing is that I would've never given the film a chance had Shudder not had it in 2024, as I'm current going through my January month of catching up with the previous year's horror releases! This is one of the three Trans & Queer horror films that I viewed but this one I liked the least in terms of horror elements as I didn't think it went deep enough into the gore which it could have had a lot of fun with. I loved the concept as a parasite is unleashed due to an earthquake and starts possessing people and spreading but it's a bit underwhelming in terms of execution. I loved the saturated color pallet of the dp and thought it gave the film character and could've been an excellent way to add it tons of gore while highlighting the Trans and queer story of the characters, but this film doesn't go that extra distance to allow it to truly be memorable and a force of the genre. This being said, it's great to see that Shudder is giving these boutique films a bigger platform and audience as I would've never been able to see the film otherwise and there is definitely an audience out there for these films.
