Recensione in evidenza
This is by no means a different or unique film, it is a proper commercial, masala flick. We have seen these kinds of doppelganger stories all the way from NTR's Ramudu Bheemudu, but with better screenplay and execution it could have been a better film. The movie ends up decent with current execution, and even at that it takes time to get into the story.
The first half is fine and passable, nothing too special, some jokes actually land. Lot of the scenes feel predictable at the start and then as they progress you get more immersed. The comedy was pretty decent as I said. The movie doesn't get into the main story until the pre-interval and the interval bang is from where the ball starts rolling with some thrilling twists, nothing too out of the world or unexpected. Post the interval bang, you will be able to put most other twists together on your own a little before they are revealed. But this isn't a major harm for the film as it entertains quite well. The last 20 minutes is when the entertainment quotient and reveals begin to make the film more thrilling and fun. A good second half, mediocre first half, overall decent film.
Vishwak Sen is the highlight of the film, especially as Das. He continues to imitate Jr NTR, but I really like the blend he brings to it and has potential for sure. In the character of Sanjay he can improve in my opinion and I hope he does for the hinted upon sequel. Nivetha Pethuraj gets a pretty decent character and is charming in it, but I miss her prior settled performances. Rao Ramesh does well with what he has and really shines in a couple of scenes. Aadi and Mahesh work in generating some laughs.
The movie could have been better if the execution and screenplay was improved. It seemed that they wanted to make a breezy first half with all needed commercial elements, and kept their story jampacked into the second half along with the twists. While the twists and racy second half worked, it would have been better if it was integrated into the film better and made the first half more intriguing. No need for the lengthy set up and they could did not have to save it all for the second half and sequel in my opinion. The direction from Vishwak could be better as well, the scenes start blend and immerse you eventually but feel somewhat artificial in making.
In regard to music, it wasn't anything too impressive. Mawa Bro is a decent hummable song which has become guilty pleasure, Almost Padipoyindhe Pilla and the others are mediocre or forgettable.
Overall, a decent masala flick that gets better as it progresses and can be given a watch. Generated enough interest that I would be intrigued to see how the sequel goes.
