Bobby Farrelly's return does not end up being as totally satisfactory as one would have hoped, although it offers us an entertaining film, we are left halfway to that dark side necessary for a film with Satan as a character.
I can admit that there are attempts to find the Farrelly we all expect, but the film does not quite meet all the necessary expectations. We have a fairly pleasant cast, but it does not go all out, even the charismatic Jack Black who feels limited in certain aspects. Despite everything, we have an entertaining story that can be watched without major difficulties and becomes a fairly pleasant pastime if you watch it without great expectations.
The script dares to go over to the dark side at times, and I think that those are the most successful moments of the Christmas comedy that they present to us. Then we are left with tender, cheesy and correct moments, which makes the film never fully define the true tone that it seeks to deliver.
A proposal that will make you laugh a few times, especially because of the charisma and talent of Jack Black, who manages to bring out the best moments, even though the actor is rather wasted in general. It works as a Christmas movie to watch before the holidays and will not transcend beyond being a festive pastime that some may like and others may find quite boring.
He has intentions, but they are nothing more than that: intentions.
