This film essentially begins with a struggling beauty salon owner by the name of "Anita" (Mercedes Davis) offering a job to her best friend "Sherry" (Jazmine Davis) who has recently lost her husband due to gang violence and has nowhere else to turn. For her part, although she is married, Anita's husband has become increasingly frustrated with her continued resistance toward having a baby and starting a family with him. So much so, that he eventually walks out on her. Likewise, Sherry has also become angry with her for passing her over for a key promotion within the beauty salon. Yet as bad as everything has been, the worst is yet to come as she is not only tried and convicted for a crime she did not commit but, while in prison, she learns that both her husband and best friend are the ones who set her up in the first place. Now, rather than reveal any more, I will just say that this could have been a decent film if it had the financial resources necessary for a movie of this type. Unfortunately, that clearly wasn't the case, and the film suffered as a result with cheap sets, mediocre acting and a rather bad script negatively affecting the final product. Admittedly, Mercedes Davis performed reasonably well, all things considered, but it still wasn't enough to overcome the obvious faults just mentioned, and I have rated this movie accordingly. Below average.
