This weekend was a friends GTG event and so to make it more memorable we decided to watch the recently released Marathi movie,"Alibaba and Chalishitle Chor"..as we could identify with the title....as we all were "40+" too.... It also has a strong starcast, Mukta Barve, Subodh Bhave, Shruti Marathe, Madhura Velenkar, Umesh Kamat, Anand Ingle and Atul Parchure..all stalwarts of Marathi film industry..whom we can call..."Hadaache kalakaar". So it was surely goin to be a treat to watch them all in one movie.
The movie began with a mysterious event and then revolved around solving this mystery....exposing every character, every relation on its way.... Thus making us go bonkers.... Until the Interval, I was not sure what the film maker wanted to imply but at the same time I had faith in the story teller, rather Marathi Film Industry that they would end this movie on a Positive note and send the right message to the masses.... But alas! They proved me wrong.....
There has always been a debate about ethics in our society... What is right? ...what is wrong?
And yet these Ethics have been in existence to remind us that we are humans and so, different from Animals.
This film reveals that to add spice to ur life, when u r goin through a midlife crisis anything you do should be acceptable.
They try to project that flirting, having an extra marital affair, hiding ur multiple relations from ur spouse, in ur 40s is the "new normal" and so in order to make ur lousy, tirant, stagnant married life work, indulging in these ventures should be encouraged and totally understood as ethical.
This, they emphasise will make ur married life tolerant and lasting.
This came as a shock to me, to receive this message from the actors whom I adore very much.
I have always believed that movies play a very important role in imparting education and sending a strong message in society.
I know we get to see many movies selling the wrong message and ideologies but I was not expecting it to come from my Marathi Film Industry and definitely not from this Cast whom I considered to be highly responsible individuals.
I felt that the thriving of Group Get to gethers wherein we meet our School and College Batchmates is in danger.
I could see some cracks coming up in some married couples due to doubt and mistrust.
I am not in denial of such happenings in society but to glorify them and to make it sound natural and thus forgivable is what freaks me out the most.
We need to reflect that, Is this the only way to make our marriage work?
Can't u spend some quality time together, express and speak with each other?
Communicate..Go out ..just the 2.
Do sumthing together what u both Love to do.
Why can't we invest in 'us' to spice up our married life instead of searching for that spice elsewhere?
Is this not possible?
It is totally Possible..
Do watch this movie just to see what you must not do in ur married life and work together to make it interesting and loving too.
Dedicated to all the Married Couples.
