Being a talented actor doesn't automatically make one a great writer or director, and Dariush is a prime example of that. Watching this Persian drama left me feeling frustrated, disappointed, and even angry-emotions I've never experienced with any other show in this genre. The story unfolds in Mr. Hadi Hijazifar's universe, where police don't exist, neighbors don't notice anything, and no one seems to care about what's happening around them. Across all 13 episodes, there are countless examples of an illogical plot, lack of character development, and complete absence of meaningful characterization. The series starts strong with a grand opening scene, only to fizzle out with a weak, underwhelming conclusion.
