My Time with Terror (2013)
**** (out of 4)
Another winning featurette from the folks at Shout Factory!. This one here features Jamie Lee Curtis talking about not only THE FOG (which this documentary can be found on) but her entire career in the genre. We start off talking about HALLOWEEN and how it really didn't do too much for her career. She then gets to THE FOG, which she feels Carpenter gave her the part simply because she wasn't getting any work. She talks about the tense atmosphere on the film from Carpenter's break-up with producer Debra Hill and she also talks about working with her mom. Curtis doesn't shy away from saying she doesn't like the film and her honesty is rather good to hear.
From this point she discusses her other horror films including PROM NIGHT, TERROR TRAIN, ROAD GAMES and of course HALLOWEEN II. It seems pretty clear, with the exception of HALLOWEEN II, that she's not overly impressed with the horror films she made, although she also makes it clear that she's grateful that they offered her work. I'm sure some of the comments might upset some "fans" but it's nice hearing her honest opinions. Fans of these films or Curtis are really going to enjoy this 21-minute interview because we get some fresh thoughts on the films in question.
