by nlcrush • Created 12 years ago • Modified 9 years ago
Light one up and watch these.

Only contains movies that feature pot at least somewhat prominently. Movies that are about other types of drugs won't be included either.

This list is still far from complete, but I want to add some comments to every movie which takes time. Also, the order is pretty random as of now.

This movie is really funny and heart-warming. Regular bong rips and blunts throughout the movie. Also, it features a scene where the lovely Linda Cardellini does the hottest karaoke performance ever.

    DirectorMichael MelskiStarsSteven YaffeeJon CorWallace Langham
Don't expect your average stoner comedy. This is in fact a pretty serious drama film, and while some pot plants are shown, you won't actually see any good smoking scenes.

Do not watch this movie unless you are getting high! While it's called horror, it's actually never really scary. Very cheesy performance and cheap props and effects.

    CreatorJenji KohanStarsMary-Louise ParkerHunter ParrishAlexander Gould
This is a pretty good crime/drama series that has some good comedy moments, and of course it's about that beautiful herb. Lastly, Mary Louise Parker who plays the main character is a pleasure to look at.
  • Maggie Castle, Alex House, Chris Leavins, Jason Mewes, Bill Turnbull, and Melanie Leishman in Todd and the Book of Pure Evil (2010)

DirectorDylan C. BrownStarsSnoop DoggWiz KhalifaMike Epps
Don't expect a good story or anything, just lots of weed being smoked and a role for semi-professional weed smoker Snoop Dogg. At the start of the film you are informed that this flick should not be watched unless you've toked up, which is good advice.
  • Alicia Witt, Scott Caan, Andy Dick, Brittany Murphy, Luke Wilson, and Jack Black in Bongwater (1998)

    DirectorJay ChandrasekharStarsJay ChandrasekharKevin HeffernanAndré Vippolis
Pretty funny movie, even though I don't recall any weed being smoked in the movie and pot is actually depicted as a bad thing.
  • Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifianakis in Due Date (2010)

DirectorTodd PhillipsStarsRobert Downey Jr.Zach GalifianakisMichelle Monaghan
Road movie that features some (but not a lot of) pot smoking. It has some drama and comedy, and works out pretty well if you toke up.

  • Code Monkeys (2007)

Two game developers try to survive their crazy Texas billionaire boss and his rich prissy son in 1983.
CreatorAdam De La PeñaStarsAdam De La PeñaAndy SipesMatt Mariska
While this may look cheap at first glance, the stories and humor of this series do not disappoint! Lots of pixellated toking and 420-references here. Furthermore, there are many, many pop-culture references if you like that kind of thing. Also enjoyable while sober.
  • Ben Affleck, Chris Rock, Will Ferrell, Shannon Elizabeth, Kevin Smith, Jason Lee, and Jason Mewes in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (2001)

    22. Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back

    20011h 44mR51Metascore
    6.8 (164K)
The comic "Bluntman and Chronic" is based on real-life stoners Jay and Silent Bob, so when they get no profit from a big-screen adaptation, they set out to wreck the movie.
    DirectorKevin SmithStarsJason MewesKevin SmithAmy Noble
Jay and Silent Bob (Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith), the two sympathetic stoners we know from movies like Clerks (I+II), Dogma, Mallrats etc, set out for Hollywood to stop a movie about them from being made, because well, people are insulting them on the Internet because of it. Lots of weed references here, and some great humor suitable for toking up to.
  • Susan Sarandon, Jason Segel, and Ed Helms in Jeff, Who Lives at Home (2011)

    23. Jeff, Who Lives at Home

    20111h 23mR60Metascore
    6.4 (66K)
Dispatched from his basement room on an errand for his widowed mother, slacker Jeff might discover his destiny (finally) when he spends the day with his unhappily married brother as he tracks his possibly adulterous wife.
DirectorsJay DuplassMark DuplassStarsJason SegelEd HelmsJudy Greer
Pot-head Jeff, who lives at home, has to do a chore for his mom but gets way off track due to a mysterious telephone call he got that morning. This is not the typical mindless stoner comedy, but a pretty decent drama film with some funny moments.
  • Natalie Portman, James Franco, and Danny McBride in Your Highness (2011)

    24. Your Highness

    20111h 42mR31Metascore

When Prince Fabious's bride is kidnapped, he goes on a quest to rescue her... accompanied by his lazy useless brother Thadeous.
DirectorDavid Gordon GreenStarsDanny McBrideNatalie PortmanJames Franco
This is weird film to show up on this list. Oh well, just watch it.
  • Up in Smoke (1978)

    25. Up in Smoke

    19781h 26mR57Metascore
    6.9 (42K)
Stoner musicians Pedro DePacas and Anthony "Man" Stoner unknowingly smuggle a van - made entirely of marijuana - from Mexico to Los Angeles with incompetent Police Sergeant Stedenko hot on their trail.
DirectorsLou AdlerTommy ChongStarsCheech MarinTommy ChongStrother Martin
The original stoner buddy movie. Cheech & Chong get in some weird situations and unknowingly smuggle a van made entirely (...) out of marijouana across the border from Mexico, while being pursued by the cops. Personally I think it's a tad slow, but amusing enough after toking up.
