Rajesh is a small time crook , He changes his name to Rakesh for other crimes. Reetesh lookalike of Rakesh has to face the law.

Johny lives a dual life--as a popular starlet and an international criminal wanted by the police for a number of criminal activities. He meets his lookalike Gopi, who comes from the village in search of a job; Johny offers Gopi the job, a salary, and a house to live in. This job involves playing the role of Johny so that the real Johny can outsmart the police and commit his criminal activities with ease. He teaches Gopi his mannerism and etiquette with things going as planned. But Gopi eventually gets trapped--both by the police and the underworld criminal gang.

Aarti lives with her only son Avinash. When Avinash falls in love and decides to get married, she tells him the truth about his father's death.

Chandan (Mithun Chakraborty), his mom (Dina Pathak) and sister Sona live in a small village. Clean shaven Chandan earns his living driving a horse driven carriage. His lady love is the beautiful Roopa (Rati Agnihotri). Roopa also has other admirers, like Bhola (Jagdeep), who will go to any extent to win her heart. On the other hand is Trishul Singh, (also Mithun) who is a dacait with a prominent moustache, out to loot and kill for the sake of money. Unknowingly he also loots the house of his mother (Dina Pathak), and he does not know that he has a twin brother in Chandan. He frequents the house of dancer Kamobai (Surinder Kaur). One day he comes across a seriously injured Chandan and is shocked to see the resemblance. He quickly takes advantage and assumes Chandan's identity, taking Chandan to be dead, he goes to live with Sona and Chandan's mom. He hopes that the police inspector assigned to his case (Viju Khote) will conclude that Trishul Singh is dead when they find Chandan's body. In this way he hopes to elude the police and start anew. But his plans are foiled as Chandan is still alive and mistaken by his gang of dacaits as Trishul Singh. But Chandan is timid and not cut out to be a cutthroat like his twin, and it will not be long before the gang finds out that something is wrong, or may possibly take advantage of Chandan's good-nature for their own greed and gain.

Savitri (Moushumi Chatterjee) falls in love with Vijay (Mithun Chakraborty), who saves her sister from a dacait named Shamshera (Amrish Puri). Both get very intimate, and then decide to marry. Before the marriage could take place, Shamshera kills Vijay, and Savitri gives birth to a baby boy, but is told that the child was born dead. She then marries Thakur Prem Singh (Navin Nischal), who is responsible for blinding Shamshera in one eye, and sending him to prison. Subsequently Savitri gives birth to another baby boy, Rajesh (Sumit Saigal). Years later, she comes across a young man named Ravi (also Mithun Chakraborty), and is shocked to see the resemblance between him and her former lover. She finds out that Ravi is her son, but decides not to tell her husband. Prem Singh subsequently finds out about this, and decides that Savitiri cannot live under his roof, and so Savitri moves out with Ravi. In the meantime, Rajesh has fallen in bad company, and fights with his dad and Ravi. His dad finds out that Rajesh had tried to kill Ravi, and has his arrested. Rajesh then comes under the influence of Shamshera, who is finally out of prison, and bent on avenging his injury. He intends to use Rajesh against his dad, and then sit back and watch the family destroy each other.

Dindayal lives a poor lifestyle in Bombay along with his wife, Shanti, and is employed with Dinanath. One day while at a reception, Dinanath's associate, Sunderdas, gets killed. Before dying he accuses Dindayal of killing him, as a result Dindayal is arrested, prosecuted in Court by Shakuntala Devi, found guilty, and sentenced to prison for life. Shanti gives birth to two sons, but loses her mental capabilities and is institutionalized. 18 years later Dindayal gets discharged, he takes a gun, locates Shakuntala, who has recently been appointed Judge, and confronts her. He then kills himself, but before dying asks Shakuntala to avenge his death by locating the real killer(s). Shakuntala hides his death from everyone, finds out that Dindayal has a look alike son, Shera, and recruits him to track down three possible suspects, namely Radheyshyam Pundit, Nissar Khan, and Peter. Shera agrees to do so for a fee, but he is attacked by the trio, decides to not to have to do anything with this matter and even states that he is not Dindayal's son, and neither is his mother's name Shanti, but Durga Devi. Neither Shakuntala nor Shera know that the person who masterminded Sunderdas' death is not amongst the trio, and that this person will soon enter their lives - shattering their peace and changing their lives forever.

Baldev Raj Sharma is a honest and diligent Police Inspector who lives in a city in India with his wife, and a son named Suraj. He is informed that due to his meritorious service, he will soon be felicitated and honored in public. Years later, Baldev is still in prison, while Suraj has grown up to be a police inspector himself, out to find out who framed his father. But will the trail be warm enough for Suraj to find his way through; and if he does so, will he himself be entrapped in a web of lies, and deceit, the same way his father was?

Vijay Kumar lives a middle-classed lifestyle in Bombay along with his wife, Suman, and is employed as the Assistant Commissioner of Police. Several years after their marriage, Suman gives birth to Suraj, and both shower him with their respective love and affection, as a result Suraj grows up to be a brat, falls into bad company, steals, and misses school. Vijay gets upset and has him enrolled in a far-off boarding school. Several years later Suraj returns home, and is welcomed back by Suman and Vijay, who is now the Police Commissioner. At first Suraj hates his dad, but a change comes over him, both father and son reconcile their differences, and Suraj gets married to his sweetheart, Radha. What Vijay does not know is that Suraj is pulling wool over his parents' eyes and is leading a double life - and is involved in drugs and criminal activity - and soon Vijay will have to decide - turn a nelson's eye or arrest his only son.

A judge sentences an innocent villager to death for a murder he didn't commit. He then meets his lookalike who had actually committed the murder and is guilt ridden upon finding out he had sentenced the wrong man to death. Out of guilt, he sets out to make amends by sending the criminal back to the man's village in his place.

Kajal is a professor in a college. One day she witnesses the rape and subsequent death of a female student. She reports it to the police, and even identifies the killer, Shishupal. But the police are reluctant to take any action as the killer is the younger and pet brother of the city's most powerful and influential industrialist and gangster, Singhania. When she organizes a student and teacher protest, Shishupal is arrested and held in prison. This angers Sinhangia, who approached Kajal and asks her to refuse to testify against his brother, and for that he will give her a lot of money, but Kajal refuses to do so. When Kajal informs her advocate husband, Mahendra, who is handicapped and walks with a help of a crutch, she finds him supporting and encouraging. Singhania has Kajal raped and killed in front of Mahendra's eyes, and as a result with the only witness killed, Shishupal is released from prison. Mahendra, devastated and humiliated sets about to avenge the killing of his wife by taking Singhania to court, only to have the case dismissed. Mahendra sets upon to avenge his wife's death by deciding to kill the Singhania brothers and his gang one by one - but how is a handicapped person, who is unable to defend himself, carry out such a mammoth task on his own?

Two sets of twins, both named Heeralal and Pannalal, set out in search of love and adventure, quite unaware of the presence of the other set.
