Marion Taylor is secretary to Edward Mallory, a wealth Wall Street businessman. She supports her invalid brother Tommy, who has been told by his doctors that he has to go to the mountains for his health. Marion doesn't have the money for that, but Mallory, who has made no secret of his intentions towards her, does. She resigns herself to submitting to his advances in order to get the money in order to keep her brother alive. However, circumstances arise in which she may possibly get the money without having to debase herself with her boss.

A Russian prince has to flee his country after fighting a duel. He falls in love with a duchess, but becomes jealous when he finds out she has a lover.

Cabaret dancer Suzie La Motte (Harris) is in love with Jim Moran (King), a boxer, but she tempts a young man named John Browning (Mack). Moran and John get into a fight in which Moran accidentally shoots himself. Out of anger at John, Suzie accuses him of Moran's murder. It is only at the last minute that John is saved from the electric chair by Suzie's confession of the truth.

Ottilie is forced to wed her cousin despite her love for Dick, the gardener's son. Dick leaves, vowing to return a wealthy man, only to find she has already married. Decades later, their grandchildren meet and fall in love.

A Manhattan playboy falls in love with a mysterious European woman whom he notices as an exact double for a famous socialite who disappeared at the turn of the century. At first, he thinks it's just pure coincidence, as the beautiful young woman he's currently romancing is much younger than the woman who vanished years before, but he soon starts to believe that it's not such a coincidence after all.

Two former childhood gang members, "Kid" Hart (Hunter) and Orchid McGonigle (Bow), attempt to go straight, despite pressure to continue their lives of lawlessness. Eventually, they escape the hardships of gang life and find happiness together.

Margot Le Blanc loses her small fortune at Monte Carlo in Monaco and makes the acquaintance of Hugh Kildair, an artist, who hires her as a housekeeper. A gang of thieves set a trap for Kildair when they find that he knows a mathematical system guaranteed to win at the gambling table. The gang is foiled by the arrival of the police; and Kildair, realizing he has fallen in love with Margot, marries her.

A newly wealthy Mark Hadley tells his daughter to get rid of her boyfriend Kent Merrill, who he says is a "chippy chaser". Meanwhile, Mark--unbeknownst to his wife and daughter--is having a fling with a pretty young French girl. When his daughter visits her friend Lila, who was a schoolmate in Paris, she is shocked to discover her father there--the French girl he's dallying with is Lila.

John Warriner, facing financial ruin, accepts the proposal of a bootlegger, Benedict, to underwrite the business of illegal wine-selling. His daughter, Angela, takes up with the jazz set and is caught in a raid, at a cafe owned by Benedict. Her former sweetheart, Carl Graham, comes to the rescue and saves her from notoriety, while the family struggles back to its former respectability following Warriner's prison term.

Milt Kimberlin (Bowers) falls in love with an marries a cabaret dancer, Rosalie (Bow) but looses all his money. Rosalie dies. Years later, a wealthy Milt marries Madeline (Rich), but wishes he could have the same happiness that he did with his former marriage. Madeline leaves him over a forged letter that "proves" Rosalie's infidelity. After the letter's author, a blackmailer, is unmasked, Milt is reunited with Madeline and the two find new happiness with each other.

Facing poverty, Carol Drayton is prevented from suicide by Rose, a woman of the streets, who buys Carol a meal in a cafe of questionable reputation. The cafe is raided, and Carol is arrested and jailed on the false testimony of wealthy Gordon Duane. When she is released, Carol is again penniless until intoxicated Bobby Bleeker pays her to sing beneath the window of his sweetheart, Aline Sturdevant, where she is discovered by Stratini, a famous impresario. While studying with Stratini, Carol is blackmailed by the butler. Whitney Duane (Gordon's brother) falls in love with her but doubts her because of the gossip, and Carol incurs Aline's wrath by borrowing money from Bobby for Rose. Carol finally realizes her love for Stratini, who has remained loyal to her, and they are married.

A young man who has vowed never to marry and doesn't particularly like children is left in charge of his two very young nieces. At first they drive him to distraction, but then he begins to warm to them, and also to a beautiful young local girl.

Accompanied by Thunder, the dog who rescued him from the firing line in France, World War veteran Ray Chambers goes to the mountains to recover from his war injuries. There he meets Martha Larned, a lonely mountain girl who lives with her little brother, Dick. Ray discovers that Martha is the sister of his dead buddy, Frank Larned, and he decides to stay and protect her from harassment by Jim Howard and his half-witted brother, Ez. When Dick is hurt in a fall, Ray goes for a doctor; Ez kills Jim and attacks Martha; and Thunder takes care of Ez. Ray and Martha then get married.

An experiment in death penalty. A man is accused of a murder, that never happened. Complications arise.

A young man (Rawlinson) spends so much time at work on his airplane that he neglects his girl (Bow). She goes out on her own to live the high life, but her reputation is soiled by a letcherous Adventurer (Williams). The young woman resolves to kill herself, and throws herself into the water rushing towards niagra falls, but is saved at the last minute by her former sweetheart. Their mode of rescue, a rope ladder hung from an airplane. They are reconciled and the letcher gets his dues.

A newspaper publisher finds out that his wild daughter has fallen in with a ring of gamblers. A reporter who has infiltrated the gang to get a story falls in love with the gang's female leader, and when the two are caught in a police raid, they find themselves in equal amounts of trouble.

Austin Starfield (Louis) has his greedy eye on a steel mill belonging to Eve Burnside (Rich). He persuades an impoverished count, Leon Molnar (Lytell) to marry Eve so he can then gain control of her fortune. Leon marries her, but falls genuinely in love with her. He breaks off ties to Starfield. Meanwhile, Leon's old girlfriend (Bow) arives on the scene and, out of jealousy, tells Eve that Leon married her only for her money. Starfield influences the workers at Eve's mill into labor desputes and gets his henchmen to start a riot. Leon exposes the conspiracy and Starfield is aprehended by the authorities. Leon and Eve are reconciled.

Disguised as a boy, a young woman gets an inner-city street gang back on the straight and narrow path.

Cardelanche, the son of an Indian chief, returns from the East to find himself rejected by his own people. He is made captain of the U.S. army when he saves a detachment of cavalry from a group of renegate Indians, and further removes himself from his race when he develops a relationship with Miriam (Bow), the daughter of the Fort Remmington commandant. Lieutenant Parkman (Walker) gets into a fight with Cardelanche when Parkman is demoted, while General Custer's troups are slaughtered by Cardelanche's people. Cardelanche decides that his true allegiance is to his own race, and gives up Miriam to return to them.

Street people Armand and Marie are madly in love, and she persuades Armand and other gang members to rob the home of Pierre Marcel, a wealthy scientist. The police break up the robbery but Pierre hides Armand from them because he kept a gang member from stabbing him, but Armand is wounded in doing so. When Armand regains his health, Pierre takes him around town and introduces him to many women, and Armand has no objections. Marie - jealous of the women - swears revenge on Marcel. They meet and he falls in love with her, and they are married while Armand is away in London. On their wedding night, Marie tells Marcel she is an Apache and her revenge is complete, and she rushes into Armand's arms. But another Apache, in love with Marie, wounds her with a gun shot.

Gaston Fleury's (Monte Blue) wife, Loulou (Marie Prevost), takes a perfunctory interest in music but a deeper one in a musician named Maurice (John Roche). Although Gaston has no intention of releasing his wife into the hands of Maurice, he feigns willingness to give Loulou a divorce. Loulou then becomes bored with Maurice, and clever maneuvering on the part of Gaston brings her to want desperately a reconciliation with him. He happily fulfills her wish.

World War hero James Lewis MacFarlane, tired of being shunted from one government hospital to another for a wound that will not heal, runs away when he learns that he has but a year to live. He is befriended by The Bee Master, who is ill and soon dies. Jamie inherits half of the estate and apiary, with the other half going to "Little Scout," an 11-year-old girl who dresses as a boy. He marries a girl about to drown herself because she is to bear a child out of wedlock; his "wife" disappears immediately afterward, leaving a note signed "Alice Louise MacFarlane." With the aid of a neighbor, Margaret Cameron, Jamie soon recovers his health. He is notified that his "wife" has given birth to a son, but when he arrives at the hospital Jamie discovers another woman wearing his ring. She dies, and Molly Cameron (Mrs. Cameron's daughter), the girl he really married, appears and confesses that she married Jamie to get her sister Alice a wedding ring and a marriage certificate to protect her reputation. All ends well, and Jamie remarries Molly.

Bruce Armstrong (MacDonald) is quite wealthy. He is also a drinker, a gambler, and pretty much worthless as a human being. For some reason, successful dancer Marilyn Merrill (Bow) sticks by him. In spite of this, he gambles with her boss, and when he loses, he writes bad checks. In order to avoid jail, Armstrong gets involved in diamond smuggling.

A young woman is released from the reformatory where she was unjustly sent. She starts a new life with the help of a judge and an idealistic young minister. But a gang of criminals have made plans that could destroy the new life that she has built.
