- DirectorHenry KosterStarsTyrone PowerAnne BaxterCecil KellawayFollowing American reporter Stephen Fitzgerald from Ireland to New York, a grateful leprechaun acts as the newsman's servant and conscience.
- DirectorMax McGuireStarsNatalie HallEvan WilliamsAlison BrooksLongtime friends and local radio hosts Maggie and Jack fake it as a couple for their families and listeners in hopes of getting their show syndicated.I really enjoyed this, it was a fun holiday movie. I thought Jack (Evan Williams) was a shade better than Maggie (Natalie Hall) when it came to acting. (3.5/5)
- DirectorLee FriedlanderStarsMeredith HagnerTravis MilneAnna Van HooftA personal shopper with a sunny disposition makes it her Christmas mission to melt the heart of her newest client - a workaholic widower and single parent. The male lead was nothing to write home about, but Meredith Hagner (Gwen) was great. She reminded me of a cross between Kate Hudson and Meg Ryan, and the kid who played Owen was cute. (3.5/5)
- DirectorMax McGuireStarsKelley JakleJake EpsteinCory LeeWhen a toy-company executive must learn about Hanukkah to land a big account, she enlists the help of her co-worker's friend, who happens to be in need of turning his pad into a Christmas Wonderland to impress his girlfriend's father. When they lit the candles on the menorah at his place they were all cockeyed and learning next to each other, unsecured in their holders. Good way to start a fire. (2.5/5)
- DirectorMary LambertStarsBrooke ShieldsCary ElwesLee RossTo escape a scandal, a bestselling author journeys to Scotland, where she falls in love with a castle - and faces off with the grumpy duke who owns it.I liked the roaring fires, beautiful holiday decorations, and the castle; the scenic views, Scottish music and dancing, and of course, Hamish the dog. Cary Elwes and Brooke Shields didn’t seem to have much chemistry together, but he did a good job as Myles (the Duke) and she was better than I thought she’d be as Sophie (a romance author), especially after the eye rolling over-acting she did when she was on the talk show at the beginning of the movie. (3.5/5)
- DirectorMark JeanStarsKellie MartinCameron MathisonJewel StaiteA widow plans to give Christmas festivities a miss, as they bring back too many memories of her late husband. This was a more serious Christmas movie (not depressing but not fluffy, either.) Kathy, a widow, is getting through her first Christmas without her husband. Tim is single; we find out he was devoted to his girlfriend, but she cheated on him and then left to be with the other man. Both MCs are small business owners, and both are genuine, fairly quiet people.
Cameron Mathison (who is new to me) turned in a solid performance as Tim; it was nice to see someone who could actually act. (Most of the time I feel like the male leads in Hallmark movies are interchangeable; they're all good-looking but wooden.) Cameron also has a distinctive voice that’s half raspy and half rumbly (hard to describe, but once you hear it, you’ll know what I mean.) Kellie Martin was good as Kathy. (3.5/5) - DirectorJeff BlecknerStarsLauren AmbroseAdam KaufmanSusie EssmanA quirky love story revolving around the unexpected wedding and unconventional married life of a 26-year-old widow and her late husband's brother, a handsome 30-year-old cardiologist. This felt more serious and authentic than other Hallmark movies I've seen. It's definitely not a light-hearted rom-com. The glimpses into Hasidic life, the plot, and the great performances by the two MCs and the MMC's girlfriend made this a winner. (4/5)
- StarsAustin AbramsMidori FrancisDante BrownA whirlwind holiday romance builds as cynical Dash and optimistic Lily trade dares, dreams and desires in the notebook they pass back and forth at locations all across New York City. This was a fun escape from reality about wealthy, virtually unsupervised teenagers in NYC during Christmas. I loved all the NYC landmark scenes, but my favorite was the final scene - it was so magical and romantic. (4/5)
- DirectorMichael DamianStarsLacey ChabertWill KempKatrina ReynoldsA woman dumped by her fiancé a month before her storybook Christmas wedding decides to take the series of ballroom lessons intended for her wedding dance. Will Kemp was a wonderful leading man - he was charming and had great chemistry with Lacey Chabert; they were so natural together. His dancing was stunning. (4/5)
- DirectorRon OliverStarsErin CahillRyan PaeveyBrandi AlexanderCharles Whitley travels from 1903 to 2020 where he meets Megan Turner and experiences a 21st Century Christmas.I liked the time travel plot and thought both leads were very good. (4/5)
- DirectorDon McBreartyStarsLacey ChabertBrendan PennySherry MillerDarcy is a career woman who hasn't found love, but her life turns upside down when she returns home to help her mother plan a charity event. It was just okay. Lacey Chabert plays a financial planner who goes home to her extremely wealthy parents’ mansion for Christmas. There she meets her debate rival from high school, now a chef. (2.5/5)
- DirectorColin TheysStarsJessica LowndesMichael RadyBen EstusA high-flying New York event planner is sent to a quaint small town to organize their Christmas festival.DNF@ 39 minutes. I liked the male lead but the female lead had a grating valley girl voice and her acting was subpar.
- DirectorMaclain NelsonStarsLacey ChabertWes BrownStephen TobolowskyEmily arrives home hoping to visit her parents, only to find that they are going on a trip of their own. While she stays at her house for the holidays, her HOA is determined to get Emily involved in the neighborhood Christmas festivities. This was a cute, silly Hallmark movie with very little romance (they didn’t even kiss until the end) but lots of holiday activities. Lacey Chabert was my reason for watching it, but I almost quit about 12 minutes in because of her parent's actions. The actor playing opposite Lacey (Wes Brown) was cute and more natural than the usual Hallmark hero.
This was a pretty rich neighorhood; her parents' house was the size of a hotel. (3 stars for festive spirit, 2 stars for romance - out of 5 stars.) - DirectorAnne WheelerStarsWarren ChristieLacey ChabertCallum Seagram AirlieAfter cancer claims Matt Kell's life on Christmas Day 2005, his widow Gina and their two young sons must cope with the pain of his loss, while their church community gathers around them for support. Wanting to be close to her kids, Gina starts to volunteer at their elementary school and meets Jack, Danny, and Charlotte Spehn. In a gut-wrenching coincidence, just weeks after Matt's death, the Spehns' mom Cathy also suddenly succumbs to cancer, leaving her distraught husband Michael to care for their three kids on his own. Sensing the hopelessness in Michael that she so recently saw in herself, Gina reaches out to Michael and his kids, and the two families begin to forge an unlikely friendship and close bond. Over the year that follows, their lives become intertwined as they learn to lean on each other during the at-times insurmountable obstacles, tears, and adversity, and begin to heal with laughter, compassion, and faith. As Gina and Michael realize that their newfound friendship is so much more, they struggle against surprising resistance from their families and community to unite their two grieving families as one and eventually learn to open their hearts to love again.Saw this in 2021, don't remember what I thought of it.
- DirectorMark JeanStarsKellie MartinCameron MathisonJewel StaiteA widow plans to give Christmas festivities a miss, as they bring back too many memories of her late husband. This was a more serious (and sad) Christmas movie.
- DirectorPeter SullivanStarsMayim BialikRyan McPartlinReginald VelJohnsonTwo strangers who both happen to be in marketing, share a room at a bed-and-breakfast when a snowstorm strands their flight in Montana on Christmas Eve.Ryan McPartlin, the male lead, was new to me, and I really liked him - he was handsome, had a great voice, and was a good actor. Mayim Bialik was irritating and not very good in the first third of the movie, but she got better. (3/5)
- DirectorJonathan WrightStarsAlicia WittMark WiebeLawrence DaneAlice is set to meet her future in-laws for the first time, but things don't go according to plan.Alicia Witt and the male lead (Mark Wiebe) wre both fine. The plot was interesting - she’s engaged and her realtor fiance, in the middle of working on a deal, sends her on ahead to his parents for Christmas, telling her he’ll follow on another flight. She unknowingly ends up at the wrong house. (3/5)
- DirectorMichael MayerStarsMichael UriePhilemon ChambersLuke MacfarlaneDesperate to avoid his family's judgment about his perpetual single status, Peter convinces his best friend Nick to join him for the holidays and pretend that they're now in a relationship. This was cute because of the holiday vibes but the two MCs weren’t believable as a couple (no chemistry). Philemon Chambers, Kathy Najimy, and Luke Mcfarlane were very good, but I felt like Michael Urie was trying to channel Sean Hayes from Will and Grace in some scenes (and there’s no competition there.) (3/5)
- DirectorRichard CurtisStarsHugh GrantMartine McCutcheonLiam NeesonFollows the lives of eight very different couples in dealing with their love lives in various loosely interrelated tales all set during a frantic month before Christmas in London, England. It was funny, touching, and sad, and all of the characters were so seamlessly interwoven into each other's storylines. And the acting! Everyone was good, but I think Hugh Grant, Colin Firth, Emma Thompson, and Laura Linney were the standouts. I also liked a lot of the soundtrack, esp. the last song, "God Only Knows". (4.5/5)
- DirectorBrett RatnerStarsNicolas CageTéa LeoniDon CheadleOffered the opportunity to see how the other half lives, a fast-lane investment broker, wakes up to find that his sports car and girlfriend have become a mini-van and a wife.I’d forgotten how many well known actors and actresses were in this! Nicholas Cage was good, Tea Leoni was great. I liked how the movie began and ended with the airport scenes, with them switching places as one asked the other not to go. (3/5)
- DirectorDavid WeaverStarsMira SorvinoCameron MathisonJesse FilkowFollowing a car accident which leaves her with a bout of amnesia, a celebrity chef gets stranded in a small town over the Christmas season.Temporary amnesia plot. Cameron Mathison plays a sweet, nurturing widower with three kids and Mira Sorvino is the star of a cooking and lifestyle TV show. I liked all the outdoor snowy scenes and Cameron Mathison’s voice and acting; he’s so natural and believable. Mira Sorvino was a bit fake in the earlier part of the movie but her acting got much better as it went on. (3/5)
- DirectorEmily Moss WilsonStarsMelissa Joan HartEd Begley Jr.Faith PrinceNatalie has a hit podcast based on love, but she isn't so expert at finding it herself until Chris Massey enters her life and shakes things up. Not to mention his name.Didn't like it. The plot was practically non-existent and there was zero chemistry between the leads. (1.5/5)
- DirectorDavid JacksonStarsThomas BeaudoinKati SalowskySteven A. Miller12 days before Christmas, Kate is trying to close the sale of a historic inn, only to find Daniel, the ghost of a man who died a century ago, and he needs her help to unravel the mystery of his annual holiday haunting.A drama/mystery/paranormal movie about a man who’s been deceased for 95 years but magically comes back to the inn where he was killed each year, for 12 days only. (2/5)
- DirectorJames HaymanStarsLaura MiyataVijay MehtaAmy SmartA story that follows Kate, a young woman who after a horrible blind date on Christmas Eve, wakes up to find she is re-living that same day and date all over again. This was a light little rom-com with a Groundhog day plot. I liked both the leads, who had an easy, natural chemistry together. There was a cute dog, too, but he needed to have a bigger part. (3.5/5)
- DirectorHernán JiménezStarsNina DobrevJimmy O. YangDarren BarnetAn unlucky-in-love L.A. girl falls for an East Coast guy on a dating app and decides to surprise him for the holidays, only to discover that she's been catfished. This lighthearted romantic comedy chronicles her attempt to reel in love.Incredibly funny! The Karaoke scene killed me.
