Bob Carey, just released from prison, learns that his fiancee Maria has married rich farmer Cifford. But she is mortally ill and Bob agrees to accompany the couple to a surgeon in Laredo, passing through Apache territory and the desert.

Barton, having joined forces with a wandering sheriff from Tucson, kills Cherry in a shoot-out, finds the missing money, and plans a future with adopted son Sean.
