Joan DeHovitz Braun
Joan DeHovitz Braun attended Lowell High School in San Francisco CA. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from the Berkeley, University of California.
When it comes to her work career, in 1984 she started working at the Bank of America in San Francisco.
She gained strong event management skills through her working experiences as a parent representative at the Branson School in Ross, CA, and as a board member of the Community Health Resource Center (CHRC) at the California Pacific Medical Center.
Her work responsibilities included organizing a wide range of events for up to 250 attendees. She also was responsible for the budget, vendor management and contract negotiations. Joan’s special skills include managing events, organization, planning, hosting and customer service.
DeHovitz Braun is a well-rounded person. Besides of her event management work obligations, she is certified to lead Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) sessions.
Over the course of the past several years, Joan has been involved with the Spirit Rock Meditation Center in Woodacre, California. Her obligations include assisting event attendees with purchases at the on-site bookstore. She attended her first Residential Retreat program at Spirit Rock Meditation Center in 2014. It last for 5 days and was led by James Baraz. In 2015 and 2016 participated in a 10-day retreat with Joseph Goldstein. In 2017, Jack Kornfield & Trudy Goodman led a 5 day retreat that Joan participated in.
In addition, Joan DeHovitz Braun has completed a number of MBSR training programs, such as the Professional Teacher Training Program including the MBSR Fundamentals Practicum at El Camino Hospital in Mt. View, CA, and an 8 week MBSR introductory course at UCSF Osher Center with James Mitchell.
This spring Joan has completed the Practice Teaching Intensive (PTI) Retreat in Petaluma, CA and became certified to lead MBSR sessions.
